NosmoTech will soon offer the IEQ Monitor+ with metal oxide technology to determine TVOC concentrations.

What is a TVOC?
TVOCs are a large family of more than 1,000 organic chemicals that vaporise, posing health risks such as irritation or cancer. TVOCs include the most volatile and the least volatile VOCs, so is a broad measurement of dangerous organic molecules. They are found in common products such as solvents, paints, resins and cleaners.

Most nations have set concentration limits on the most toxic and most common TVOCs:

  • Benzene carcinogen and a major component of petrol.
  • Formaldehyde found in paints, adhesives, carpets. and wood products
  • BTEX combined
  • Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and  Xylene-1,3 Butadiene very reactive, used in rubber manufacture

The IEQ Monitor+ provides an index to assess total VOCs within the indoor air; It does not identify specific TVOCs, but does inform you when the TVOC levels are increasing or decreasing.
